What do you think the long 2's are for most SaaS companies? The "best practices" that almost never work out. I'd guess things like "start a podcast!" fall into that.
Great question. I'm planning to write a follow-up on this. I think it could be things like webinars, the big expensive 3rd party events, blogging without caring about SEO, drip nurture email campaigns, any sort of conversion activity driven off content like ebooks, nearly all paid social and display.
Podcasts are a three-pointer in my mind. Where else if you're successful can you get your audience to spend 30 min to an hour with your brand on a regular basis? That's a ton of value potentially.
If you're a small company and you don't have any notable folks in your industry (founder/ceo, technical folks, etc) then it will just be a three-pointer from half court :)
